B.          LIFEGUARD

 

1.      The lifeguard is in charge at the pool.  All persons shall obey the instructions of the lifeguard, regardless of your interpretation of the instructions. 

2.      No one may talk to the lifeguard, stand around the guard chair, or otherwise distract the lifeguard from his or her duty. 

3.      The lifeguard cannot and will not serve as anyone’s baby-sitter or sponsor. 

4.      Parking in a space that is assigned to a townhouse unit is strictly prohibited absent permission of the current resident.

 

C.          POOL PASSES

 

1.      All residents are required to have passes obtained through the managing agent.  The following types of passes for residents:

 

Yellow            A family pass that admits adult residents over 18 and children under 13.

Blue            Individual pass for children from ages 10 through 12 who pass the Swimming Proficiency Test.

Green                        Individual pass for children from ages 13 through 18.

 

2.      Non-residents who have purchased pool passes for the season must bring their passes to the pool each time they visit the pool.

 

3.      Resident pool passes are issued only to full-time residents of Newberry Station.  Students living at home in Newberry Station for the summer are considered to be full-time residents.

 

4.      Non-resident family members, friends, or acquaintances of Newberry Station residents are not eligible for resident pool passes.

 

5.      Pool passes are the property of the Association and are not transferable and may be revoked for misconduct or violation of pool rules.

 

6.      The Board of Directors shall revoke, for a period of at least 30 days, the pool usage rights of all residents of any house in which any resident of that house obtains or attempts to obtain resident pool passes for non-resident family members, friends, or acquaintances.

 

7.      Except for employees of the Association or those performing bona-fide services or maintenance, individuals who enter into the confines of the pool area without a valid resident or guest pool pass, or whose pool usage rights are currently revoked, shall be considered to be trespassing and may be prosecuted in accordance and may be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Fairfax County.

 

8.      Pool passes may be withheld or revoked if the responsible Association member is 60 days or more delinquent in paying any assessments or any other charges owed the Association.

 

9.      The first time a pass is lost, there is no charge for a replacement.  The charge for a second replacement is $5.00.  The charge for each subsequent pass is $10.00. 

 

D.               ADMITTANCE

 

1.      The Fairfax County Health Department required that everyone take a soap shower before entering the pool.

 

2.      No apparel other than bathing suits is allowed in the pool.  NO cut-off pants.  T-shirts to prevent sunburn are allowed.

 

3.      Each person must immediately turn in his/her pass to the lifeguard upon entering the pool area and sign in accordingly.  Accountability is important!

 

4.      All children under ten (10) years of age must be accompanied by an adult or guardian (18 years of ago or older) at all times while at the pool.

 

5.      Children ages ten (10) through twelve (12) will have the opportunity to take a swimming proficiency test (SPT).  Upon passing the SPT, children will be issued BLUE individual passes, which will allow them to be at the pool unaccompanied for a period of time.  The SPT will be administered by lifeguards during rest periods only.  The SPT consists of demonstration of the following skills:

 

a.                   Must swim well, without stopping, two lengths of the pool using any recognized stroke (no dog paddle).

b.                  Must swim underwater one width of the pool.

c.                   Must tread water in the deep end of one and a half minutes.

 

Children ages ten (10) through twelve (12) who have not passed the SPT will be admitted only on a family pass and must be accompanied by an adult or guardian (over 18 years of age or older).

 

6.      Children under thirteen (13) years of age must be accompanied by an adult or guardian (over 18 years of age or older) from 6:00 PM to closing.

 

E.               SWIMMING POOL

 

1.      Children under the age of four (4) shall not be allowed into the large pool unless under the direct supervision of their guardian, who shall be in the water with the child at all times.

 

2.      Persons unable to demonstrate to the lifeguard their ability to swim are not permitted in deep water unless accompanied in the water by a competent adult swimmer.

 

3.      Pushing or general roughhousing of persons in or around the pool is NOT permitted at any time.

 

4.      Air-filled objects, snorkels, balls, kick boards, and so forth are permitted in the pool at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.

 

5.      A 15-minute rest period for each hour is required for children under 18 years of age.

 

F.                WADING POOL

 

1.      Only children 5 years of age and under are allowed in the wading pools.

 

2.      No horseplay or splashing is allowed in the wading pool at any time.

 

3.      Children wearing disposable or cloth diapers must also wear plastic pants.

 

G.              AROUND THE POOL

 

1.      No pets are permitted in the pool enclosure.

 

2.      For safety reasons, shoes should not be worn around the pool deck.

 

3.      Containers provided for the disposal of trash/refuse must be used.  Members are urged to assist in keeping the pool area and shower rooms clean.  This is your pool.  Please clean up after yourself.

 

4.      No glass containers or breakable objects are permitted within the pool enclosure at any time.

 

5.      There shall be no running on the pool deck.

 

6.      No intoxicants may be brought on any part of the pool area, and no person under the influence of intoxicants will be permitted to enter the pool area.  Violations will result in loss of pool pass.

 

H.               GUESTS

 

1.      Each unit is entitled to one guest pass for the season.  This pass is good for twenty (20) visits throughout the season.  If you use up the twenty (20) visits, you may purchase another 20 visits for $20.00, by contacting Management.  You will be able to bring up to four (4) guests at one time.  If you need to bring more than 4, please contact Management prior to your visit (i.e., relatives visiting from out of town for several days).

 

2.      Each homeowner is responsible for the behavior of the guests they sponsor.  Any violation of the pool rules by a guest may result in revocation of the pool privileges of the sponsor.
